An
international manufacturer of
high-end outdoor bus shelters/furniture
required a highly
aesthetic, technologically advanced
outdoor information kiosks for
the City of Boston. This kiosk
offering needed to unify Boston's
useful information to its mass
population simply and effectively.
Some of the information to offer
included: mass transit schedules,
restaurant listings, public
events, theater/play listings,
historical and cultural sites.
This "Next Step"
in kiosk application was achieved
by deploying the DevelopmentDNA process.
All aspects of design, engineering,
manufacturing, ergonomics, assembly
and maintenance were achieved,
in addition to solving several
design challenges, such as: information/user
interaction, environmental, vandalism
and service. The end results yielded
a highly cost-effective, robust,
easy-to-use kiosk, possessing
visual interest that is universally
appealing, igniting the passion
of technophiles, while being subtle,
non-threatening and visually inviting
to people who have limited computer/Internet
knowledge.
