A leading
medical manufacturer requested
the development of an advanced
laser cataract removal and corneal
surgery instrument system. The
goal was to develop an intuitive,
ergonomically advanced platform
that is totally articulated
by the surgeon during the operation,
eliminating the surgeon's assistant,
thus improving accuracy, quality
and speed of results.
An
ambitious undertaking, requiring
the invention and implementation
of a unique, patented, ergonomic
device. A main systems control,
12-position surgeon-operated
foot control and an IR remote
were developed, resulting in
innovations that increase the
system's overall speed and accuracy,
while decreasing operator fatigue.
This development effort is another
excellent example of a program
collaboration, yielding an outstanding and
successful precision instrument
of high quality and durability
under rapid timelines.
